About this Project 

Facilities often receive a fixed, limited budget for allocating their resources and funds into meaningful activities seniors will actively participate in. Our main objective involves creating and distributing interactive care packages to seniors living in these communities that are either stimulating physically or cognitively. This project also strives to educate others on the importance of supporting the elderly through quality care and assistance, as well as pressing issues surrounding the ethics of elderly care. This project would support local nursing homes and assisted living facilities through direct collaboration of stimulating activities they request for their facility.

This process works by contacting homes across Livonia and Novi to see which are interested in joining our network to receive aid for their residents. Requested items are then gathered, packaged, and distributed to residents of that home. We also offer to direct interaction with residents with these technologies to report on their results. These could range from engaging memory aids and games, customized arts and crafts fit for aging hands, interactive read-aloud books, sensory mood lighting, fine motor-strengthening fidgets, and other personalized care items that would be individually tailored and delivered to homes. There are also a number of interactive games for the elderly with intellectual disabilities or dementia, specifically designed for a target audience to take the needs of each user into account. They stimulate movement and social interaction, especially if the individual is physically or mentally enabled to do so otherwise (mole hunt, puzzles, pairs, music making, coloring books, etc.).

This project aims to go beyond traditional donations by offering individualized activities and educational workshops at facilities and will offer interactive, direct interaction with the seniors we provide assistance to. Through partnerships with senior homes, we work to establish long-term relationships to provide sustained support. We also organize a variety of activities, such as arts and crafts sessions, game nights, music performances, and storytelling sessions, to engage seniors and create a vibrant community atmosphere in-person at homes.
